Born: January 25th, 1920, Pittsburg, PA
Died: December 7th, 2010, Ontario, CA
Daughter of Bernard F. Kilroy and Helen Anderson. Sister to Bud, Sissy, Janey and Marge. Cousin of George Kilroy.
Devoted wife of 37 years to Lawrence Kemmer, Loving Step-Mother to Paul, Joan and Thomas. Caring Grandmother to 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
“Betty” grew up in Pittsburg PA, where after her education was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and worked at the Pittsburg Post Gazette. There she met her husband “Larry”. They were married in 1957, for 37 years, until Larry’s death in 1994.
After marriage, Larry’s newspaper duties took them all over the United States and Central America, always taking their beloved collie “Pal” along. Betty loved to travel and they frequently took vacations around the world, especially to visit family in Ireland and Germany.
Eventually they settled down in California, first opening an Income Tax business in Costa Mesa, and then purchasing a home in Oceanside in the early 70’s where they lived until Larry’s passing. They would often be seen walking together hand in hand in their new neighborhood with their terrier “Petty Girl”.
Bring devout Catholics; they were active members of the church. Betty was a highly accomplished singer and member of the Mission San Luis Rey church choir and many others. She was an excellent homemaker, fantastic cook, and (as any of her grandchildren will tell you) an expert in etiquette and manners. She was every inch a “lady”. She was always very proud of her family and was greatly loved in return.
After Larry’s passing Betty moved to the Inland Empire to be closer to her step-son Tom who took great care of her in her later years.
Services will be at Eternal Hills, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside, CA, on Monday, December 13, 2010 at 1:00pm where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Larry.
We will miss you Betty and forever hold you in our hearts.
Glory be to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Arrangements under the direction of Eternal Hills Memorial Park, Mortuary and Crematory, Oceanside, California.
