Mary Patricia McCarthy Porter loved her family, her friends, and all of us with resounding passion and fierceness.  We were all immeasurably enriched by her friendship, her reverent irreverence, and her steadfastness.

She is unforgettable.

My earliest memory of my Aunt Mary was when I was about 5 years old and she  came to  dinner at our house in Lexington Ma. 
She was wearing her Navy uniform , and with her huge personality , I thought she was the most amazing person I had ever seen . She went out of her way to make a little boy feel very special . That was about 60 years ago .
Every time I think of her I remember that day .
