

On October 13, 2015 Mary Lenora Oliver Settle earned her wings and went to join her husband Lee in the arms of their Lord. Mary was born to Ralph and Helen Oliver March 12, 1925 in Denver, Colorado and grew up in Tecumseh, Michigan where she excelled in the Henry Ford School System.
After graduation in 1943, she came to California and made it her home. Being the adventurous sort, she enrolled in flying school and Lee Settle was her instructor. Six weeks later they flew to Yuma, Arizona, and were married. In 1947 they moved to Oceanside where they raised three children.
In the ensuring years she was active in the community providing American Field Service homes for two exchange students, one from Austria and one from Turkey; volunteered for over 33 years at Tri-City Hospital amassing 11,000 hours and became an accomplished golfer at El Camino Country Club. In her later years she became active in North Coast Church which became the center of her life. She fulfilled her lifelong dream of skydiving with jumps in 2007 and 2010. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Lee. She is survived by her three children: Janis Dahl, Sally Black, Lee Settle Jr. and His wife Eileen; six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, she requested donations be made to North Coast Church Senior Ministries, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, or made to charity of your choice.
Services will be held Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 3:00pm at; North Coast Church, Carlsbad Campus
