Vea and Steve Contreras were blessed with the birth of their first-born child, Nathaniel Steven, on July 6, 1987. As a young child, Nathan loved all things Star Wars and playing sports. Nathan became an older brother to two sisters, Stephanie Paige and Jessica Vea. Once he was old enough, he began traveling by himself to Kentucky every summer to spend time with family. There, he enjoyed fishing, meeting extended family, and learning new things. During high school, Nathan played football for the El Camino Wildcats. He was an active member and leader for his youth group at Newsong Church. Nathan accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized in the Pacific Ocean. During his college years, he studied theology at Biola. Nathan enjoyed all genres of music and played the guitar and ukulele. He had a wonderful, compassionate soul and had a fun sense of humor. Nathan loved spending time at his grandma Esther's house and sampling her menudo. Perhaps from this, Nathan developed a love of cooking and was becoming quite the chef!
