Nellie "Jonnie" Pauline Carstens, born Nellie Pauline Taylor on May 9, 1924 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, but lived most of her life in Carlsbad, California. She worked tirelessly beside her husband "Red" Leidt for 41 years. At age 60 she went back to school at Mira Costa College and earned her high school diploma and went on to earn a B.A. in Administration. Shortly thereafter, Jonnie was asked by Mira Costa College to head the Re-Entry Center on campus, which she did for ten wonderful years until her retirement. She loved to travel and meet new and old friends and absolutely loved to play Bridge and other board games.
She was such an incredibly loving and generous Mother and Grandmother and her family meant the world to her. Jonnie is survived by her daughter, Sallie Lynn Davis, granddaughters Erin Pauline Leidt & husband Marcos; Meghann Rebecca Hayes & husband Chris; grandsons Richard William Davis & wife Rachael; Robert Andrew Davis, seven great grandchildren, relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 1pm at Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel in Oceanside, California.
Burial will take place at Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Oceanside, California.
