I smile when I think of Norm!  Norm whistled when strolling to our neighborhood mailbox. Norms whistle became a comforting everyday sound for me over the years.  We would say to each other in our family, "Norms home" when we heard him whistling.

I laugh in my heart when I think of Norm driving by in his tiny blue sports car. He looked so big in the car that it looked like a cartoon car! Norm would give us a big grin and a big wave and promised to give a ride someday!!

I will miss Norm's whistle, smile and wave, but I have the memories in my heart and they make me smile and laugh.

I was honored to have known Norm Clark. I first met him in Da Nang in 1969 and we were constantly running into each other throughout  my twenty years of 'Phrog" flying. Quiet spoken, with a youthful grin and smile, he was a mentor to many Marine pilots and crew members. His knowledge of the CH-46 systems was unparalleled  and he gladly shared his expertise through formal and informal instruction. 
Troubleshooting was his forte. He was my friend, my brother in arms, and an integral disc in the backbone of what has kept the CH-46 flying for so very many years. It flies today. more than 45 years in service to this country, in no small part because of Norm Clark. I shall miss him dearly. In my heart, and the hearts of many, he was a Marine! I can think of no finer man who evinced the phrase 'Semper Fi" to his country, to his company (Boeing Vertol), and to his Marine brothers.

I am truly saddened by the passing of a great American.  Norm was more than just a tech rep, he was an amazing person.  He was tough and called it as he saw it, however always considerate and kind to us that we always welcomed seeing him at every opportunity.
His passing will not only leave a void in the “PHROG” community, but in the hearts of many Marines who knew him.  Norm’s memory will remain ingrained deep within my heart.

Norm was that one significant constant source of mechanical and technical wizardy that nearly every Phrog Phixer at LTA could depend on. Call him and he would show up ready to help day or night. I imagine he had placed his hands upon every CH46 ever built. He was always cheerful to be there to help, teach and encourage. Norm..God Bless you.

In 1971, I was a PFC serving with HMM-163, aboard MCAF (H) LTA Santa Ana, California, where I first met Mr. Norm Clark. I can attest to the fact, like many of the Marines that I know and had served with over the years Norm Clark is a true American Patriot and will be missed by all. Norm’s undying love for the Corps’ cherished CH-46 helicopter, mentorship, and sage advice has left all Marines he has encountered better men in this life.  

To the Clark family, I wish to convey my most heartfelt condolences on the loss of your patriarch. We, Marines share in your loss, as Norm is truly our Brother. 

Norm rest in peace, know that you mission here was successful and the Creator needed you to care for His fleet of Phrogs!

I first met Norm in 2001 when I returned to active-duty.  Norm was a VERY good man, who would always stop what he was doing to assist me for help with CH-46E parts.  He was well-loved by the Marines and fellow civilian Marines he served with.

I take solace in the fact that he is with God and those friends and family who have gone before him.

To the family he left behind, I'm truly sorry for your loss.  Norm was a special man.  I hope you find comfort that in the fact that he touched so many lives.

I met you in '67 in 302 and learned much from you as a newly minted brownbar Aircraft Maintenance Officer from the ranks.  Believe me if you didn't have the answer, it wasn't there when it came to problems with the 46.  After a short spell, I wasn't sure whether Boeing or Norm Clark made the plane.
You were absolutely great with all maintenanmce personnel regardless of age, rank or classification.  Norm, you showed us all the way when it came to maintaining a very difficult bird and through yopur own personnel efforts and long hours, made it the absolute workhorse of the Marine Corps.

Norm, you will be sorely missed.

Having had the honor to serve with Norm since hiring in at Boeing Vertol in 1964 I am saddened by his departure. Yet, he has been a marvelous and knowledgeable colleague that I could always depoend on for a needed answer.An Icon in the H-46 program to all who ever got to know him. My best wishes to Pat and the Family.

I first met Norm at MCAS Tustin in 1969 when I transitioned to the CH-46 and Norm was the Boeing Tech Rep who also taught classes on the Phrog.   It was immediately obvious Norm was a really smart engineer and had great integrity but also a very dedicated and friendly person.   Norm, we will all miss your greatly.  God bless.

It is hard to describe in words a man of Norm’s caliber, but I will try anyway;  He was clever, genuine, generous, genius, dedicated, giving, loving, mentor, teacher, father, brother, lover, unwavering, and most of all GUARDIAN.  He has been all those things and more to those he came to know and serve with.  He leaves a legacy unmatched by any other.  The Marine Corps at large and the Phrog community as a whole owe him a great deal of gratitude and reverence for the incredible service he gave to us all and his country from Vietnam to Desert Storm to OIF, and the example he leaves behind for the future generation to come.  May God bless him and those he leaves behind.

Norm may you rest peacefully in Paradise. You're an icon in the H-46 community, a mentor to me, and mostly, my great friend. You will be missed, but not forgotten. See you on the other side my Brother...

I met Norm in 1980 and cherished his friendship, and the H46 expertise, that he shared with all of us in the H46 community. Norm was a natural leader, gifted instructor and a great friend. Thank you Norm for enriching my life, I am a better man because of you. Rest in peace.

I met Norm in 1972 when I was assigned to HMM-161.  We were flying the F models. Norm presented himself daily and he was a blessing to the squadron.  He came in to help with problems and to teach classes whenever asked.  Norm was dedicated to helping keep our Frogs flying.  I've not met a civilian counterpart that had the same dedication and drive as Norm.  He was professional, courteous and a friend to all who came in contact with him.
My condolences to his family.  Norm, you will be sorely missed.  Peace be with you, my friend.

A one man institution, passionate about the H-46 and devoted to the entire operating community, Norm  leaves a rich legacy.  When making regular squadron visits - never without his leather binder stuffed full of the latest messages and technical directives - he always left us better off by sharing his encyclopedic knowledge and know how. 
Quick to smile and laugh, diagnosis was his joy and teaching was his art. Was there a circuit, connector, instrument, nut, bolt or component that he didn't know intimately? Norm Clark - the  Patron Saint of all things Phrog. Marines have lost a  rare and great friend.  Sincerest Condolences. S/F,

I met Norm in 1971, with HMM 161 the consummate professional.  He showed me one of the first tech manual drafts on the 46 at his house. He had a tremendous amount of input in it's development.

Coached his kids baseball team with him. Our greatest legacy are our children -they should be proud.

I first met Norm in HMMT-302 in 1968 and we continued to cross paths and server together for the next 20+ year.  While the model numbers changed from “A” to “E” the thing that remained constant was Norm's dedication, professionalism and friendship.  There was no one in The Marine Corps more committed to “getting the job done” and providing safe CH-46’s than Norm Clark.  It is a relationship I will cherish and fondly remember.

I met Norm way back when I was just a young Corporal at HMM 164.  I was impressed with his knowledge of the H46 helicopter and his genuine caring for both the Marines and the H46.  I looked up to him both when I was a Marine and when I became a member of the elite Boeing H46 tech reps.  Through the years, I kept hearing Norm talk about writing his book.  He doesn't have to write a book, he is forever engrained in every person's brain that had the pleasure of meeting him.  Norm, your final chapter has been written, Semper Fi

I first met Norm as a wet behind the ears LCpl in 1972.  He had a way of getting under your skin for doing something stupid when troubleshooting an A/C.  Hense he seemed to bring out the best in all the young Marines in the 46 community.  We all wanted to do our best so as not to fall on his list below "Circuit Breaker Pushers".  He was my mentor as well as my friend.  Many times he kept me out of trouble not only professionally but as a friend.  When I retired in 1992, he called my wife to convince me to come to work for him as a tech rep, it was the best experience I've had since my retirement.  To work for the zen master was the ultimate accomplishment.  Norm will be missed both professionally but more importantly in our hearts.  Semper Fi my friend.

The Ch-46E community and Marines have been a better place for the continued years of Service that Norm has given us. He has been the legend that we have all emulated throughout our years of service.  Norm has been much more than just a Boeing Rep and a face around the Marine Corps.  He has been a mentor and leader that has given us the guidance when we needed it most. You knew that just by talking to Norm that you were about to learn something new.  I retired in April and the face I missed most was seeing Norm there.  He has been on more deployments as a civilian than any service member will ever experience. He has served this country for over 50 years and I know that he wanted to see the last Phrog in the sky and retire with it.  My sincere condolence to his family.  He talked about you all and was extrememly proud of your accomplishments.  The Marine Corps has been blessed by his presence, especially HMM-364 Purple Foxes.  Thank you for letting us be a part of his life for so many years and allowing him to give us the guidance we have needed.
