Every time i come here i can never fine the words so say how i feel but i can promise you there is not one day i don't think about you or walk into the wear house without hoping to see you

Hi, It's me again.  Just wanted to say I miss you so very much.  Today I remembered a date we had years ago, we went to see the Sound of Music in Tustin.  It was an August day, a very hot day.  As we were getting ready to leave I asked you if you thought I should bring a sweater. You laughed and said I was crazy, because it was so hot.  We left and I did not take a sweater or a coat!  When we went into the Elizabeth Howard Dinner Theater in Tustin, we were seated and a waiter proceeded to take our beverage order.  The air-conditioner was on the lowest level and it was very cold in the theater.  I ordered a hot cup of coffee and kiddingly asked for a table-cloth to use as a wrap!  You ordered a soda and quickly excused yourself to the mens room.  It was a long while and finally you returned.  You had a bag in your hand.  You had lovinly left the theater and walked across the street to a Marshalls dept. store to buy me a coat!  You came back, took the jacket out of the bag and placed it on my back!  So many women wish that they could find a man like you.  I too wished it and God so to it that I find YOU.  Love you still and miss you so very, very much.  I will see you in Heaven one day.

Hey Pat, it has been a month since you have entered heaven and i just wanted you to know that i am still thinking of you, everyday.  I miss you and love you very much.  Ohh yeah Connor says "hi"

Alicia and Family,  I know its been a while since I have gotten to see you but from the times I have spent with you I will always remember what a loveable funny guy Pat was.  He really did lift the mood of any room.  I'm so sorry for your loss...

Alicia, Pat and you have been great neighbors and I am blessed to have been able to chat with Pat the times I did when out gardening.  Just wish we could have all visited more being so close.....  I will always remember Pat sitting out in the back with TJ or the Birds and listening to his sports.  I am just a yell up the hill if you should ever need anything.  Pat will be missed by everyone. I was only recently introduced to Pat and the DeRoses.  One of my 1st memories of Pat was when I requested a Purchase Order from him.  He said, "Well, we don't issue Purchase Orders, we do things by a handshake around here".  That's when I knew I had found a new friend and will so miss knowing someone of such rare character and humanity.

Hey Pat, just want you to know that i was thinking about you today and wanted to tell you that I love you

Pat was the most kind & generous man I have ever known.    He always donated to charity events and was the first one to offer his help.  He especially loved the Marines.  Every bone in his body was patriotic through and through.  He was so thankful for the service, honor and commitment of our brave warrior hero’s.  Pat was proud of them and was honored to serve them here at home.   By generous I also mean he was always putting things in your pockets or bags when you were not aware.  It could be a note, a candy bar, soda or sometimes…. just some trash.  
Which leads to my next thought that he loved to play practical jokes and no one was exempt from them.  He may have fooled you the first time with his “Made You Look” game but you had to brace yourself, the games would never end.  When you least expected it, he would get you again.  Even when he did not know you well, he would come up with crazy put-ons, especially with waitresses/waiters.  Let’s not forget his impish little giggle that was really a giant belly laugh when he “got you”!  You could not be in Pat’s presence without being blessed by his big grin and the twinkle in his eye.  You had to watch out for that twinkle however.  
Pat was an animal lover.  Oh my, did he ever love his pets.  He referred to bird turds as a “little bits of love”.  Animals were cherished family members in the DeRose house.  It was not only the birds that sat on pedestals in his home.  Dogs and cats were valued highly and loved dearly.  Pat could win over anything that had breath, even that nasty Kiwi.  He was sick at heart when Colonel was lost and jubilant at his return.
There was no bigger sports fan then Pat.  He loved football and could rattle off players and teams and stats.  He loved to compare your opinion with his and was willing to place a bet that he was in the right.  Many a Sunday he sat glued to the TV all football season.
He loved food and “eating” was an art form to Pat.  We had a contest to see who made the best Italian meatballs.  He thought he did and I thought I did.  I used to think that I loved him so much because he was Italian, like my daddy but I know better.  My affection for Pat runs much deeper then that.  He was a model of Jesus’ love in this world.  He was always the first to volunteer help, donate food, pick up the check, and nothing was too hard for this man to tackle.  Through the years I have watched him work so hard and was amazed at his strength.  Pat never talked about himself.  The conversation was always directed to you and your family.  He delighted in hearing about Russell’s girlfriends or Lonny’s police escapades or our grandchildren stories.
I feel honored and richly blessed to have known Pat.  He was a gentle giant to me. He was kind and fun-loving with never a harsh or bad word for anyone.  Pat blessed more people each day then most clergy do in month of sermons.
Inside this lighthearted, kind, generous man there was a depth of commitment and understanding to something foundational, something far bigger then himself.  Pat loved and put his trust in his Lord Jesus Christ.  That was where Pat’s power came from to love so unconditionally.  That was the reason Pat was the man he was.  He lived out the 2 Great Commandments to Love God and Love Others.  Reading his bible every day sustained him, gave him peace and joy.  In return, he gave all that back out to others.  That is God’s plan….It is a perfect, simple, uncomplicated plan.  He wants us 1st focused and dependant on Him and 2nd to be His hands and feet here on this Earth until He returns.  I am CERTAIN Pat heard those words we all long to hear someday…..”Well done my good and faithful servant”
Now Pat leaves us his legacy…to know God by studying His Word, the Bible. Then to let God’s light shine through us into this dark and troubling world, bringing joy to all those we meet.

I remember Uncle Pete coming to PA to visit from time to time.  I had the opportunity to meet him a few times and my Dad was right, Uncle Pete was a very fun and "crazy" person.  He always seemed to get a laugh out of everyone around.  I'm sure he will be deeply missed.  I wish I had the opportunity to know him better.

I will always carry with me the many wonderful, loving memories of Uncle Pat.  I loved him from the moment I laid eyes on him.  I don't have to tell you how kind, loving and generous he was.  But most importantly, he was everyone's friend who had the exceptional gift of making everyone laugh.  I will never forget him.
