Raymond (“Skip”) was born in Coronado, CA to Raymond and Marjorie Feist. He grew up and resided in North San Diego County for most of his life.
Skip was educated at University of California, Santa Barbara (BA History), and completed law school at California Western School of Law (JD). Following his undergraduate degree, Skip joined the Navy and was an aviator during the Vietnam War. He continued to serve his country in the Navy Reserve as part of the JAG Corps.
Skip met Barbara Cornell while at UCSB and they were married in Lafayette, CA following completion of his Basic Training. Upon his return from the Vietnam War, they settled in North San Diego County.
After law school, Skip joined his father as a Partner at the Law Offices of Feist, Vetter, Knauf and Loy in Oceanside, CA. During the course of his professional career, he served as a settlement judge and court appointed attorney for the San Diego Superior Court’s Probate Department, and was a Master with the Fiorenzo V. Lopardo Chapter of the American Inns of Court. In addition, he served as Secretary and Vice President of the San Diego County Bar Association and President of the San Diego County Bar Foundation.
He is survived by his loving wife Barb; their two children, Laura Feist Malek (husband, Andrew; sons Caleb and Benjamin) and Raymond Scott Feist (wife, Paramee; children Paul, Phoebe, Susannah and Timothy); his brother, Phillip Feist (wife, Ruth) and sister, Penelope Anderson (husband, Tom); as well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Skip was an avid reader of history and fiction, enthusiastic baseball fan, connoisseur of fine wine, lover of road trips and ever ready for a fishing adventure. He will be remembered for his dedication to family, friends and all those who needed his help. He will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at North Coast Calvary Chapel (1330 Poinsettia Lane, Carlsbad, CA 92011) on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 10:00 am. Rev. Stephen Cornell will officiate.
