

Robert was born on July 6, 1942, in Draneville, Georgia to Robert and Joan Satterfield.
He was a proud veteran, who served as a Navy chaplain with the Marines and, previously, as an Air Force chaplain. He retired as a lieutenant commander of the Navy at Camp Pendleton Marine base in Oceanside.
On May 23, 1969, he married Lela Angela Verme in Abilene, Texas, and they were married 52 years.
He graduated from Hardin–Simmons University in 1971 and entered the Air Force as a chaplain after completing his Master of Divinity degree at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.
He later completed a Masters of Counseling Psychology at National University in San Diego.
Following his military retirement, he served as pastor of Celebrate Recovery at New Venture Christian Fellowship of Oceanside, California. He also served as a chaplain of the VA Hospital in La Jolla, California, and as the chaplain of the California Veterans Home of Chula Vista.
Robert also enjoyed also serving as volunteer chaplain of Sherri's Pack Wounded Warriors, in Oceanside, California.
His family includes his beloved wife Lela, daughter Christy (Jay) Lowder; son Tom (Brenda) Satterfield; granddaughters Emma and Grace Satterfield; and sisters Beverly Tier and Jeanne Holland.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Oceanside, 240 Grace St., on Thursday, October 14, at 10 AM, with Reverend Adam Smith, Dr. Hal Schulz, and Reverend Mark Kuhn officiating.
A military burial with full honors will be conducted at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, at 1 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Happy Hill Farm Children's Home and Academy for at risk youth. Robert was the founding principal of the Academy. https://www.happyhillfarm.org/about/
