“Bobby Bunches”
October 11, 1959 – Feb 13, 2026
Roberto Ramos was a gift of light to this world—the flame that sparked joy in everyone he met. A loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Roberto’s life was defined by his unwavering strength, his dedication to hard work, and a profound, deep-seated love for his family.
Born on October 11, 1959, in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco—or “Los Altos de Jalisco,” as he proudly called it—Roberto was raised by his grandparents, Refugio and Agustina Ramos, and his Tia Mica. It was out of deep respect for this upbringing that Roberto chose to carry his grandfather’s last name, ensuring that his legacy would live on through him.
Roberto’s work ethic began early. After attending school through the 4th grade, he entered the workforce at a shoe factory at just 11 years old. By 17, he had worked his way up to manager. He fondly referred to himself as a “shoemaker” during those teenage years, which were also spent in local billiards halls where he meticulously developed the skills that would later make him a legend on the table.
In 1976, Roberto set out for the United States to build a new life, arriving with nothing but a backpack and the clothes on his back. In 1978, he met Amparo and her young daughter, Martha. Roberto and Amparo married in July 1981 and went on to have four children: Cecilia, Roberto, Raquel, and Michael. To support his family, Roberto worked as a landscaper in Rancho Santa Fe for over 20 years. However, during the 80s and 90s, he was also known as a formidable "pool shark," winning countless tournaments and hustling for over a decade to provide for his loved ones.
In 1992, Roberto and Amparo separated, and Roberto later welcomed his youngest daughter, Samantha, with Carmen. Because he grew up without his own parents, Roberto carried a special, protective love for his children. He made it his mission to be the father he never had, breaking the cycle of the "machismo" era he was raised in by always kissing his children and hugging them tight.
His career path was as diverse as his talents. In the 90s, he served as a security guard and worked as a bounty hunter for five years. From 2006 to 2012, he worked in maintenance for an apartment complex until a knee injury led to his medical disability. Never one to remain idle, Roberto reinvented himself again in 2014, becoming a Licensed Barber. Alongside his son, Michael, he founded Resculpting Master Barbers, eventually opening R.M.B. Shave Parlor in 2015. Known to many as "Bobby Bunches," he took immense pride in his craft. He often joked that his fresh haircuts and beard sculptures were a "lady killer," touching countless lives through his skill, humor, and conversation.
Roberto had a passion for traveling and bringing people together. He was also a man of specific tastes; he never went anywhere without his own hot sauce or a spicy chili pepper, just in case a restaurant's options weren't "hot enough." He even kept a bottle of habanero sauce in his glove compartment—his secret weapon for long drives. If he ever felt sleepy behind the wheel, a couple of dabs of that heat ensured he stayed wide awake and ready for the road.
His greatest joy was his eight grandchildren: Deseray, Miguel, Michaella, Mario, Danny, Aaliya, Isaiah, and Joseph. He created a unique bond with them, greeting them with his signature, “Gimme ☝🏼,” which meant "I love you." They would connect index fingers and share a kiss—a tradition they will carry forever. In 2025, he was blessed to become a great-grandfather to Necalli and Eliana.
He often reminded those around him, “Smile, it’s free,” a simple phrase that reflected his resilient and positive spirit. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy lives on in the family he cherished. He taught many lessons, but none more important than the one he lived every day: "Enjoy your family and enjoy your life."
He will be deeply missed, but his light will never be extinguished.
