

Our beloved Roland Medeiros went to be with the Lord on June 13, 2013, after suffering a long illness. Roland was born in Fall River, MA on November 14, 1933 and moved with his family to Oakland CA at age 4. Roland served our country honorably in the United States Navy from 1953 through 1957. In October 1959 Roland joined the El Cajon Police Department where he proudly served for 27 years. He received many honors as a law enforcement officer including being named Officer of the Year. Roland retired as an agent in the Detective Division in 1983.
One of Roland's many passions was cars. Over the years he had many vintage automobiles which he lovingly and meticulously restored. Roland enjoyed driving and took many road trips in the cars as well as in motor homes. Roland also enjoyed working with wood and was a great craftsman who took pride in his many tools, some of which were passed down from his father. There wasn't much Roland couldn't do with his hands; from minor repairs to furniture building to room additions he could do it all.
Roland was a resident so San Diego county since 1957 and resided in Oceanside since 2002, having moved from El Cajon.
Roland is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Marilyn Ann Uhrig Medeiros. He is also survived by his brother William Medeiros, sister Dolores Rappel, his son Jeff Medeiros, daughter Crissie Matthews, step sons Chuck Uhrig, Paul Uhrig, and James Uhrig; step daughter Amanda Uhrig; ten grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who all loved him very much.
Viewing will be from 4:00 p.m. To 8:00 p.m Wednesday June 19, 2013 at Eternal Hills Memorial park located at 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside Ca 92054.
Rosary will be sais at 6:30 that evening.
Funeral services will be held on June 20, 2013at 9:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church located at 525 W. Vista Way, Vista Ca
Military honors will follow funeral service and will be held at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.
The family will host a luncheon thereafter.
