

Roy Joseph Marino was called home to be with the Lord Saturday September 20, 2014. Roy was born on June 12, 1918, in Chicago, IL. He was a very dedicated, faithful and loving husband who was the primary caretaker for his wife for many years. As a father, Roy set the example for his sons and was always there for them. He was an Uncle and a Grand father as well, boasting of 3 grand children, 3 step grand children, 4 great grand children, 4 step great grand children and many nieces and nephews. Roy had lived in San Diego County since 1956. He served his country in the U.S. Army Ordnance Corps. as a Tech Sergeant during World War II where he was stationed in Europe. Part of his duties included handling the Italian prisoners because he could speak Italian. After returning home he took up playing the accordion and working in a machine shop. Roy ultimately would meet Margaret Ode and would marry her. They would be married for 62 years until Margaret’s death in April 2014. Roy was employed as a Machinist by Lockheed Aircraft, Solar Corporation and General Dynamics during his career. He was a member in good standing of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace workers union. After retiring, he volunteered at the Senior Center in Oceanside and helped prepare tax forms for seniors. Roy was an avid bowler and Padre fan. He was bowling well in to his 90s. Roy loved playing BINGO, going on casino trips, dancing and listening to Polka, Frank Sinatra, Al Martino and Dean Martin music. He attended St. John's Catholic Church in Encinitas, St. Margaret’s in Oceanside and at his time of passing St. Patrick's in Carlsbad. He is survived by his 3 sons Joseph, James and John.
Visitation will be Monday September 29 between 4 – 8 am at Eternal Hills. Funeral Service will be at the Chapel at Eternal Hills at 10 am Tuesday, September 30
