Ruth Beatrice Thompson was born in Pearl River, Louisiana, the only child of Mathilda Wilson Storie and Jay Gould Wilson on February 26, 1916. Married to Woodrow Wilson Thompson for fifty-three years, she peacefully departed this life on August 24, 2010.
She is survived by daughter Carol Ann Dickinson of Mesa, Arizona, son Stephen C. Thompson and daughter-in-law Linda Thompson of Kent, Washington, and five grandchildren: Jackson Lynch of Maple Valley, Washington, Shaunda Lynch-Schmidt of Tell City, Indiana, Craig Thompson of Sammamish, Washington, Lt. Trevor Thompson, USN, of San Diego, California, and Courtney Thompson of Anaheim, California. She also leaves four great-grandchildren to her loving memory.
Ruth worked as a model in a variety of venues including runway, photography, television and print , both locally and nationally. She had a passion for the creative arts and was a skilled artist and actress. Ruth possessed a passion and spirit for life that touched all those who knew and loved her. She had an absolute devotion to her family and to her God. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, August 29th at 10:00 A.M., Eternal Hills Memorial Chapel in Oceanside. Contributions in the name of Ruth Thompson may be made to the San Diego Hospice.
