Truman James (Jay) Robnett, Jr. was born in Santa Monica and passed away on September 15, 2023 after battling cancer for 2 years. He was 61 years old. He taught at Hueneme High School in Oxnard, CA for 20+ years and was passionate about making a difference in kids’ lives. While at Hueneme High School, he established an engineering academy. He enjoyed teaching Physics, Biology, and Chemistry. He was married to Beatriz Mesa for 31 years and was a father of two children. He retired back in 2018 and moved to Oceanside, CA, where he took up ocean swimming and outrigger canoeing. He absolutely loved the ocean. He was a wonderful family member, teacher, advocate, ally, coach, athlete, and friend. He is survived by his mother Mary Ann, his sister Cheryl, his wife Beatriz, his children Stefani and Nicolas, and his nieces and nephews who miss him dearly. The Robnett Education Foundation was established in 2023 by Jay and his family to continue his legacy of promoting accessible and high-quality STEM education for underrepresented communities.
