Violet Mosqueda

Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Violet graduated from Farrington High School class of ’53. An avid athlete, Violet participated in tennis, softball and swimming. She was also a member of the student chorus and Red Cross.

In June of 1955, Violet’s marriage to the love of her life, Herman Longoria Mosqueda with whom she shared 65 years of marriage, was announced in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. Her marriage to Herman, a United States Marine, brought them to the continental US where they had their five children.

Once settled in Oceanside, Violet pursued her career as a teacher. Having earned her bachelor’s degree, she taught at Libby Elementary School for 30 years. She remained active in the community throughout retirement assisting her husband as volunteers with the Order of the Alhambra to enhance the quality of life for developmentally disabled persons. Violet was also a member of the Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside, CA for over 50 years.

Violet is survived by her five children: Donna McCormick, Cindy Montgomery, Michael & Tracy Mosqueda, Anthony Mosqueda, and Andrew Mosqueda as well as her sisters: Lillian Rodriguez and Armelita Van – in addition to more than 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

A memorial mass will be held at Mission San Luis Rey on March 21st at 1:30pm. The burial will follow at Eternal Hills Cemetery.
