William “Bill” Thomas Farquhar of Carlsbad, California passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2023 at the age of 66. Bill was born in November of 1958, in San Jose and was the first child of Barron and Toni Farquhar.
From an early age, Bill had a passion for trains which stayed with him his whole life; in fact it was at a train event that he met his wife, Kristen.
After graduating from Littleton High School in Colorado in 1977, Bill pursued a career in railroading. Starting at the scenic Georgetown Loop in the mountains of Colorado, he went on work at the Royal Gorge Route Railroad. With a love for the ocean, Bill fulfilled his dream of living in Southern California. There he worked on the Metro Link and Coaster railroads. Greater career pursuits took him to work on several trains in Tennessee and Texas. Still with a love for California, he ultimately returned to Carlsbad where he helped build the commuter trains servicing the Inland Empire.
While not on a train, Bill and his family enjoyed traveling and had many happy times at Disneyland where they had season passes for several years. He delighted in a good movie, and was a big fan of Star Wars, Avengers and all the superhero films.
Bill is preceded in death by his loving parents, aunts and uncles. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kristen, daughter, Jordan, sister, Vickie, brother Doug, and their families.
Bill’s ashes will be spread in the Pacific Ocean and a Celebration of Life will take place in Carlsbad. Family and friends will be invited once plans are finalized.
