William Joseph “Bill” Fink, 76, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, in Oceanside, California. Born on January 17, 1949, in Newark, New Jersey, Bill lived a life marked by professional success, deep faith, and unwavering dedication to serving others.
Bill began his career as a corporate executive and entrepreneur. His leadership and vision led him to serve as Vice President for an Israeli company, a role that took him to Israel seven times and allowed him to build meaningful international relationships. His business acumen was matched by his passion for innovation and excellence in the corporate world.
At the age of 50, Bill made a profound life change—retiring from the business world to devote himself fully to volunteer ministry. From that point forward, he dedicated his life to serving God and others with humility and purpose. He served faithfully as an Executive Pastor, Missions Pastor, and Associate Pastor at three churches. His commitment extended beyond the pulpit; he also held leadership roles as Board President of several nonprofit organizations including Global Partners for Development, Yeager Kenya Group, and The Old Borego Pioneer Society.
Bill’s heart for service was especially evident in his work with those often overlooked by society. For over 25 years, he was deeply involved in prison ministry. He served as President of Pastors to Prisoners and participated in Kairos prison ministries at two Southern California prisons. His compassion also led him to work with the poor and homeless through two outreach ministries where he offered hope and support to those in need.
His dedication to missions took him across continents—he engaged in mission work throughout Africa—and across communities closer to home. As a Sons of the American Legion Chaplain and a tireless advocate for spiritual growth through teaching and mentoring, Bill touched countless lives with his wisdom and kindness.
Bill gave his life to Jesus in 1991—a decision that transformed his path and inspired many others through his example of faith in action.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy; sister, Alice DeFreest (Doug); brother, Rick Fink (Mary); his three sons: William Fink Jr. (Keisha), Charles Fink (Andrea Midby), Joseph Fink (Katie); and four stepchildren: Marissa Maddux (Jonathan), Megan Lowe (Don), Nick Nester (Alyssa Acuña), and Marcie Grube (Gary). Bill was also a proud grandfather to ten beautiful grandchildren: Kenz Fink; Carter and Avery Lowe; Ella and Nate Maddux; Morgan and Miles Fink; Mathew and Maeve Fink; and Waylon Nester.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Meadowlark Community Church, located at 1918 Redwing St., San Marcos, California 92078. All are welcome.
