

Funeral services for Allan "Springy" J. Bell, age 85, of Heuvelton, will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Fox & Murray Funeral Home, with Rev. Walter Smith officiating. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Entombment will follow at the Oswegatchie Mausoleum.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy; son Kristopher Bell (Kevin Meiser) of Maryland; daughter Kellie (Rodney) Bush of Sacketts Harbor; grandchildren Kaitlyn, Rodney and Emily Bush and Dan Strader; great-grandchildren Avery McLear, Quinn and Reese Moses, and Wyatt and Sophia Strader; a brother, Lawrence (Kathy) Bell of Wisconsin; sisters Mary (Ron) Denny of Heuvelton and Barbara (Vern) Tapper of California. He was predeceased by his siblings, Donald Bell, David Bell, and Lorna Bell.
Allan was born on November 22, 1939, in Ogdensburg, a son of Maurice and Veda (McAdoo) Bell. He attended Heuvelton Central School and continued his education at George Washington University. On June 17, 1961, he married Nancy E. Bice.
Throughout his career, Allan worked for Denny’s Gas Station, Aiello Cheese Factory, Ferrox Iron, Waste Stream Management, and Seaway Timber from which he retired in 2014. He was a member of the Lions Club and the Heuvelton Presbyterian Church.
Allan was a standout track athlete in high school and had a lifelong love for truck driving, whether it was on his property or in his various jobs. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and cherished time spent with family. Although he was a man of few words, he was a friend to many and was fondly known as "Poppy" to his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
