Funeral services for Allan A. Gratto, age 70 of Lisbon will be held on Sunday at 3:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Pastor Floyd McCallum officiating. Calling hours will be held also on Sunday from 1:30 until the time of the service. Mr. Gratto passed away at his home on Wednesday Feb 14, 2018.
Surviving are two daughters Amy (Michael) Robinson of Lisbon and Rebecca (Paul) Rible of Great Falls, MT; six grandchildren Janna & Brooke Ryor and Marissa, Eric, Natalee & Justin Robinson; and his former wife Marlene (Elmer) Jones of DePeyster.
Allan was born on January 12, 1948 in Plattsburgh NY, a son of the late Donald & Shirley (Martin) Gratto. He graduated from Saranac Central School and continued his education at Plattsburgh State University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. He later married Marlene Harrica on November 22, 1968. The couple’s marriage ended but they remained friends over the year.
During his career, he was a New York State employee first as a clerk, and later became a correctional officer working at Greenhaven Correctional, Dannemora Correctional as a Sergeant, Watertown Correctional as a Lieutenant and Riverview Correctional as a Captain retiring in 1997. After retiring from NYS Corrections, he was a professor at Mater Dei and Canton Colleges where he taught Criminal Justice. Allan also was the Pastor of the Richville Christian Fellowship Church from 2004 to 2008.
Allan enjoyed boating, scuba diving, basketball, karate, hunting, target practice, golfing, going for rides, being with family, and was a devoted Elvis Presley fan.
