

A Celebration of Life Service for Dr. Aranjyothi A. Kotha, age 74 of Ogdensburg will be held May 1, 2015 from 3:00-5:00pm at Granview Restaurant with Professor R. Mukundan Celebrating. Dr. Kotha passed away at her home on Saturday (April 18, 2015) surrounded by her family and friends.
Surviving is her husband Dr. Vijayasimha Kotha; two sons Vijay Kotha & his wife Manu of Canton MI, Ajay Kotha & his wife Amy of Castle Rock CO; a daughter Sudha Kotha & her husband Howard Hu of Toronto Ontario; grandchildren Krishna, Arjun, Sahana, Anaka, Keyana, Maya and Devika; brothers Kedareswararao Allanki, Sannyasi Rao Allanki; a sister Seshamani Madana along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by three brothers Suryaprakasarao Allanki, Baburao Allanki and Rammohan Rao Allanki and one sister Brundavanam Muppana.
Dr. Kotha was born on April 12, 1941 in Rajahmundry, Andhra INDIA, a daughter of the late Pydiah & Suramma (Kalepu) Allanki. She obtained her education from Schade Girls High School, Government Art’s College, Mrs. A.V.N. College and Andhra Medical College in INDIA. She later married Dr. Vijayasimha Kotha on March 30, 1967 in Tirupati, Andhra, INDIA. The couple relocated to Winnipeg Canada where she completed her Rotating Internship at the Grace General Hospital. In July of 1979, she began her residency at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse until 1982.
During her career she held many positions to include Women’s Medical Officer in Family Planning in Kothapet, A.P. INDIA, Rotating Internship at Grace Memorial Hospital Winnepeg, CANADA, raised her family from 1969 – 1975, and later returned to work with her husband Dr. V.J. Kotha’s as a medical Assistant in their Ogdensburg office. In 1977, she became employed as the Assistant Clinical Physician at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center; 1979 Assistant Clinical Instructor for Medical Students at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse; 1982 Psychiatrist I at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center in conjunction with her private practice at A. Barton Hepburn Hospital and in 2003 her fulltime practice at 312 King Street in Ogdensburg until August 2012.
She was a member of the American Psychiatric Association since 1982, a Psychiatric Consultant for area nursing homes, Medical Director and Psychiatric Consultant for area ICF Facilities and privileges to practice at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center, Claxton Hepburn Medical Center, and E.J. Nobel Hospital in Gouverneur.
Dr. Kotha enjoyed gardening, vacationing on the Islands, going to INDIA and spending time with her family. Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of one’s choice. Condolences can also be shared on line at www.foxandmurrayfuneralhome.com
