

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Fox & Murray Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor at a time and location to be announced.
Austin is survived by his beloved daughter, Gracelyn Thomas; his companion, Autumn Bressett, and her mother, Dawn Redmond; his mother, Amanda Thomas and her husband, Brandon VanOrman, of Ogdensburg; his father, Travis Finley of Ogdensburg; two brothers, Tanner Thomas of Canton and Cody Thomas of Watertown; a stepbrother, Daylin VanOrman and his companion, Lexi Bice, of Ogdensburg; a sister, Faith Thomas of Ogdensburg; grandparents, Candy Petrie of Ogdensburg, Robert Thomas of Lisbon, Kim Finley of Morristown, Bryan Lalonde of Lisbon and Rhonda VanOrman of Ogdensburg and her companion, Dana Mitchell, of Lisbon; great-grandparents, Maynard Finley of Ogdensburg and Carol Finley of Morristown; aunts, Kimberly Worden of Gouverneur, Kristin Finley of Morristown, Kelly Thomas and her companion, Cara Smith, of Canton, and Jessica Wright of Massena; uncles, Chad (Ashley) Thomas of Heuvelton, Robby Thomas of Ogdensburg, and Brian Jackson of Malone; and a special cousin, Dakota Jackson of Lisbon.
Austin was born in Ogdensburg, the son of Amanda Thomas and Brandon VanOrman and Travis Finley. He attended Heuvelton Central School and later earned a welding degree in Wisconsin.
He began his career in farming before joining his brothers at Thomas's Painting. He later worked in construction for Felder's Roofing and Burns & Richardson Construction before becoming a member of Local 277 Carpenters Union, where he was employed at the time of his passing.
Austin enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding four-wheelers, dirt bikes, and snowmobiles. He was also a member of an amateur motorcycle racing team. Above all else, Austin's greatest joy in life was his daughter, Grace. He was a devoted father, loving partner, and loyal friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
