

Funeral services for Barbara A. Hannan, age 89 of Ogdensburg and formerly of Dekalb Jct., will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday April 26 2017 officiating at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Rob Schirmer.
Calling hours will be held also Wednesday from 12:00 to 2:00pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Hannan passed away on Monday (April 24, 2017) at the Riverledge Healthcae Facility.
Surviving is by her sister-in-law Janet Goldfogle, nephew Tom Goldfogle (Clare), niece Cathy Schaupp (Bob), and great niece Anna Goldfogle. She is preceded in death by her parents Milton and Dorothy (Sessler) Goldfogle, brother Richard Goldfogle, great nephew Ben Goldfogle, beloved fellow pianist Charlie Farley, and her favorite Shepherds-Shadow, Kay-o, and Dee.
Barbara was born in New York City on December 23, 1927, later receiving her college education at Michigan State University. She was a secretary with a brokerage firm on Wall Street, and later moved into New Jersey where she was activities director of the Eastern Star Home in that State. After a period she went on to work for Somerset County with senior nutrition and medical transport.
In February 1986, she migrated to Dekalb Junction where she lived until 1992 when she moved to her longtime residence in Ogdensburg. Barbara was a member and past grand officer of the Order of the Eastern Star, having dual membership in Bound Brook Chapter #94 in Bound Brook, NJ and a past district deputy of the Florence B. Beattie Chapter #349 in Heuvelton. She was also an honorary member of the Maple City Chapter # 71 in Ogdensburg, and member of the Eureka Rebekah Lodge # 129 I.O.O.F., Pythian Sisters, Order of the Amaranth, New Jersey Pomona Grange and the St. Lawrence Valley Dog Club. She was also a member of the Heuvelton Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Hannan served as a musician in many of these organizations and gave benefit recitals with Charles Farley for the Eastern Star-Masonic projects along with entertaining others at local nursing homes and hospitals. Barbara was recognized by the City of Ogdensburg as a Volunteer of the Year, an honor she was very proud of receiving. Barbara was well known for her quick wit and strong opinions as well as her love of animals, especially dogs, but German Shepherds held a special place in her heart. Barbara's family would like to thank Riverledge Health Care and Hospice for the loving care they provided Barbara in her final days.
