

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 7th, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Fox & Murray Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM, with Rev. Tom Nichols officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date.
Bethany is survived by her children; Leo "Joe" & Sue Hazelton of Heuvelton, Rick & Donna Hazelton of Heuvelton, Bruce & Robin Hazelton of Heuvelton, Deb & Clarence Rasback of Perry, GA, Larry & Diane Hazelton of Heuvelton, John & Janese Hazelton of Chase Mills, Brian "Bert" & Ellen Hazelton of Heuvelton. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, as well as many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bethany leaves behind her sisters; Beverly White of Gouverneur, Betty Cousino of Canton, Leona & Raymond Green of DeKalb, Sally Hazelton of Heuvelton, and Trudy (Wayne) Denesha of Florida.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Leo Hazelton in 2004, and a sister, Glenna Clement.
Bethany was born on July 5, 1934, in Gouverneur, a daughter of the late Raymond and Venetta (Lashbrook) Strate. She graduated from Gouverneur Rural School and married Leo Hazelton on May 9, 1953.
Throughout her life, Bethany was dedicated to caring for others. She began working for B.O. Kinney as a young woman and later spent 25 years as the Activities Director at Cedars Nursing Home, retiring in 1995.
She was a talented and creative person who enjoyed collecting dolls, sewing, needlepoint, cross stitch, and most of all, spending time with her family.
