

Betty S. Fisher, age 99 of Ogdensburg, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025 at her home. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday (Sept 24, 2025) beginning with visitation at 1:00pm followed by the service at 2:00pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Ogdensburg with Rev. Laurena Will officiating. Burial will be held privately at the Madrid Cemetery.
Surviving are her children Edward (Eun Sook Kim) Fisher of Fayetteville, PA, Janice Mills of Ogdensburg, and Cathleen (Milo) Pritty of Potsdam; grandchildren John Benson & his companion Sarah Hartmans and Joseph Pritty & his companion Kristin Knight; great-grandchildren Layne Benson, Bailey Benson, Dirck Hartmans, Paxton Benson, Jack Pritty and Evelyn Pritty; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband Jack in 1980 and a sister, Marie Castle and son in law Ron Mills.
Betty was born on December 2, 1925 in Madrid, NY, a daughter of the late Truman and Grace (Ford) Shaw. She graduated from Madrid High School and later attended Mater Dei College where she obtained an associate’s degree in social work. She married John S. “Jack” Fisher on October 19, 1946 at the Scotch Presbyterian Church in Chipman with Rev. George Harland officiating.
Betty began her employment at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center in 1963 as an attendant and later became the floor supervisor. After receiving her degree from Mater Dei through night school, she became a psychiatric social worker serving the Potsdam, Massena, and Brasher Falls areas. In 1987, Betty began volunteering at the Geriatric Center on Ford Street, where she provided social work services for many years. She also held numerous positions at the First Presbyterian Church, serving as a Deacon, session counselor, personnel committee member, and participating in Presbyterian Women and Christian Education.
Betty enjoyed sewing, gardening, crocheting, knitting, and spending time with her family.
