

Cecil was born in Canton on April 13, 1930, to parents Everett and Doris (Chambers) Wells. True to his name, Cecil worked as a well-digger for several decades, servicing the Ogdensburg area and granting access to water to farmlands and families across the county. Cecil was a man of unwavering integrity who lived a proud and honorable life.
Cecil married his wife, Jean E. Fifield, on June 6, 1953, in Canton. They had one son, Robert L. Wells, in 1955. Cecil and Jean spent 61 years together before her death in March 2015. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean; son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. Wells and Gayle Wells; parents, Everett and Doris; brother, Everett Wells; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Raymond Martin; in-laws, Jay Fifield, Brayton Fifield, Howard Fifield Jr, Lloyd Fifield, Beverly Bullis, and Betty Jean Fifield; nephews, Gregory Wells and William Fifield; nieces, Rebecca Fiacco and Jacqueline Fifield; and granddaughter-in-law, Elizabeth Ferguson.
Cecil is survived by his loving companion of 10 years, Nancy Huling; sister-in-law, Lorraine Wells; grandchildren, Lisa Wells, John Wells, Heathe Ferguson, Heather Ferguson, and Autumn Kelly; great-grandchildren Robbie Wright, Spencer Ferguson, Madilyn Cain, Bryan Price, Matthew Gilbo; Nancy’s children, Fred (Carol) Baxter, Tammy (John) Kelly, and Penny Covert; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services provided by Fox & Murray Funeral Home in Ogdensburg, NY. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, May 20th, 11:00-1:00. Burial and graveside service will follow at 1:30 at Lisbon Cemetery (White Church Cemetery), 880 County Rd 28, Ogdensburg, NY.
