Funeral services for Charles E. “Charlie” Zimmerman, age 70 of Knox Street in Ogdensburg will be held at a later date at the New Life Assembly of God Church in Ogdensburg with Pastor Phillip A.Caruso officiating. Burial will be in Baker City, OR in the spring. Charlie passed away late Monday evening (Dec 3, 2012) at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center. Arrangements are with the Fox & Murray Funeral Home.

Surviving is his wife Christine of Ogdensburg, a son Matthew Zimmerman of McDonough, GA his mother Sylva Zimmerman of Bakers City, OR; a sister Suzanne Canifax of Portland Oregon and an aunt Frances Toland of Medford, GA.

Charlie was born on November 24, 1942 in Marshfield, OR the son of Charles E & Sylva (Michael) Zimmerman Sr. In his younger years, he played football with the Oregon Ducks, boxed semi-pro, and was an accomplished Blues & Jazz singer débuting in Las Vegas, New Orleans and Los Angeles. For 20+ years he was a business partner at the ERA Mortgage & Realestate Business in Oregon, but was forced to retire in 2000 due to failing health. He then married Christine A. Gibbs on July 2, 2010 in Ballston Spa, NY.

He enjoyed playing cards, spending time with his family, and entertaining others with his magnificent voice.

Dear Sylva, I am not sure you will read this. I am very sorry for your
loss of Charles. I thought of you today while I am on the computer.
I just had major surgery, but I am recovering nicely, I am now 82 and in
fair health. I live in the same city, Gainesville, Texas. My new phone #
is 940-612-1031, My Sunday School class has some very nice people in it
and they have befriended me. I think of you and Myrle often, Are the
Campbells still living in Baker City? Love to you, Marcella Hurd
