

Dale E. Christman, age 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Massena Rehabilitation and Nursing Care in Massena, surrounded by the love and memories of his devoted family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a date and time to be announced.
Dale is survived by his loving children, Michael Christman and his companion Kathi LeClair of Ogdensburg, Scott Christman and his fiancée Amber Vanlew of Florida, and Sara Christman and her companion Austin Greene of Ogdensburg. He was a proud grandfather to Caleb (Samantha) Christman, Dawson Christman and his companion Taylor Hutton, Madison Christman and her companion Wayne Harris, and Kamryn Christman-Jayson. Dale was also blessed with two cherished great-granddaughters, Claire and Chloe; a son-in-law Robert Ellard Jr. of Ogdensburg; along with several brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends whose lives were touched by his kindness and humor.
He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Phyllis Christman; an infant son, Jason Christman; a daughter, Melinda Ellard; and two beloved grandchildren, Amealea and Alexys Ellard.
Born on September 21, 1952, in Ogdensburg, Dale was the son of the late Edward and Betty (Redmond) Christman. He attended Ogdensburg Free Academy and proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1970 until 1972. On November 11, 1972, he married Phyllis Tynon, beginning a lifelong partnership centered on family, devotion, and love.
Dale worked for many years as a laborer with Fort Drum and Diamond International. He was known as a hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family. Outside of work, Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing, processing scrap metal, playing bingo, and sharing his quick wit and unforgettable sense of humor with those around him. He especially loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy throughout his life. Dale was also a dedicated Chevy truck enthusiast and could often be found working on them.
Above all else, Dale will be remembered as a kind and devoted family man whose greatest happiness came from the people he loved. His strength, humor, and caring nature will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
