

Graveside service for David A. Wallace, age 67 formerly of Canton, will be held 11:00am on Friday April 14, 2017 at the Flackville Cemetery with Rev. Richard Sturtz officiating. David died (Monday April 10th) at the St. Joseph’s Home in Ogdensburg. He was born on May 31, 1949 in Ogdensburg, to Rosemary Jane and Darwin Ralph Wallace. He was employed most of his life as a farmer and in the cheese business.
He is surviving by two brother’s Stephen (Barbara) Wallace of Heuvelton and Mike Wallace of Colton; two sisters Elizabeth (Gerald) Kuhl of Croghan and Michele James of Canton. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. A brother Gary Wallace predeceased him.
David graduated with a regent’s diploma from Lisbon Central School in 1967. He majored in Math, Science and Latin. He was active in 4H as an officer, and helped win blue ribbons and state awards for the FFA. After High School, he attended SUNY College of Forestry at Syracuse University where he majored in pulp and paper science from 1967 – 1971. He was a member of Yorkers and coordinated mass for the Catholic Church services at the Syracuse University. He was a drug store manager in Auburn, Syracuse and Johnstown, and worked at the Holiday Inn, the Canton Kraft cheese plant, and St. Lawrence County Cheese. He was dedicated to his family farm and spent twenty years working alongside family and friends.
David enjoyed hiking, movies and reminiscing. He was an avid story teller and loved to talk about his life experiences with others.
