Donald A. Ceresoli Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Donald A. Ceresoli Sr., age 93, of Morristown & Marco Island, FL, will be celebrated on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Hammond with Rev. Leagon Carlin officiating. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home.

Mr. Ceresoli passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday evening as the result of an ATV accident.

Don is survived by his children, Donna Ceresoli of Hammond, Mary (Chet) Truskowski of Hammond, Donald (Joy) Ceresoli of Hammond, Jinny Prudhomme of Morristown, Lisa (Jeffrey) Crysler of Morristown, and Beverly Ceresoli of Old Forge. He is also survived by his brother, Michael Ceresoli of Ilion, New York; his sister, Genevieve Ryan of Texas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 56 years, Patricia "Pat" Ceresoli, in 2010, as well as his siblings, Frank Ceresoli, Louise DeCondo, Rosie Curcio, Josephine Antonucci, Stella Occhionero, Clara Zinacola, and Mary Tagliferri.

Born in Rome, New York on May 16, 1933, Don was the son of the late John and Rose (Papendra) Ceresoli. He graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1951 and married the love of his life, Patricia Sherman, on November 27, 1954. That same year, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army and served his country honorably until his discharge in 1958.

Don built a remarkable career in the telecommunications industry, earning a reputation as a dedicated, hardworking, and customer-oriented businessman whose integrity and commitment to his community were second to none. He began with New York Telephone in Utica before purchasing Citizens Telephone Company in Hammond in 1968. Together with Pat, he successfully owned and operated the company for nearly six decades. His entrepreneurial spirit also led him to own the Harbor Inn in Morristown, Topsham Telephone, and Castle Cable TV in Alexandria Bay.

Deeply devoted to his community, Don generously gave his time and leadership to numerous organizations throughout the years. He was an active member of the Rotary Club, Elks Lodge, and the Moose Club in Florida. He served on the boards of Citizens National Bank and River Hospital, was a member of the Hammond Volunteer Fire Department, participated in the New York State Telephone Association, and proudly served as Mayor of the Village of Hammond. Whether through business, public service, or volunteer work, Don believed in helping others and making his community a better place.

Outside of work and civic service, Don found his greatest joy in spending time with family and friends. He loved deer hunting, traveling, tending his garden, and sharing stories with those around him. His warm smile, generous heart, strong work ethic, and unwavering dedication to both his family and his customers will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
