Donna M. Conger

Fineview (Wellesley Island), NY – Funeral services for Mrs. Donna M. Conger, 66, of Fineview and formerly of Brier Hill will be held on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home, Ogdensburg. Rev. Frederica Webb, pastor of the Wellesley Island United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Ingham Cemetery, Town of Morristown.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5:00-8:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mrs. Conger died on Monday morning (Sept. 19, 2011) at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, Ogdensburg where she had been a patient since Sept 16th. She had been in failing health for the past 10 years.

Surviving are; her husband, William “Punky” Conger; 1 daughter, Mrs. Michael (Carol) Lytle, Heuvelton; 2 sons, Robert Conger and his wife, Lisa of Rochester, David Conger and his wife Michelle of Glen Rock, NJ; 3 sisters, Mrs. William (Frances) Harris of Rossie, Mrs. Denman (Cynthia) Gosen of Largo, FL, Mrs. William (Susan) Goosic of Phoenix, AZ; 5 grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jordan Lytle, Morgan, Lindsay, and Allie Conger along with several nieces, nephews & cousins.

An infant daughter Paulette Conger and four brothers Douglas, Peter, Russell & Gordon Ayen predeceased her.

Donna was born on Sept 20, 1944 in Auburn, NY, daughter of Francis H. & Louise (McDermott) Ayen. She graduated from Hammond Central School and married William “Punky” Conger on July 20, 1964. After their marriage the couple farmed on the Conger Road in N. Hammond for a period, and then moved to Brier Hill where they continued farming. In 1979 she became employed at Morristown Central School where she worked as a bus driver & custodian until 1999. She and her husband operated Conger’s Marina at Wellesley Island State Park for 12 years, and the Nut-N-Fanci Restaurant and Store on Wellsley Island for 14years to present.

She enjoyed sewing, baking, and especially, her grandchildren. Memorial contributions can be made to the Wellesley Island Volunteer Rescue or the Brier Hill Volunteer Fire & Rescue.
