A Funeral Mass for Durwood “Bud” N. Grant, age 87 of Ogdensburg, will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday (Jan 15, 2019) at the St. Philip & James Catholic Church in Lisbon with Rev. Kevin O’Brien officiating. Entombment will follow at Foxwood Memorial Park.
Calling hours will be held also on Tuesday from 10:00am to the time of the Mass at the church. Mr. Grant passed away at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center on Friday (Jan 11th).
Surviving is his wife of 53 years Betty L. Grant of Ogdensburg; a son Todd Grant & his wife Shayne of Pensacola, FL; two daughters Shelley Grant-Robinson of Ogdensburg & Melissa Grant of Potsdam; ½ brother Darrell Grant of Gainesville, FL; former son-in-law Dale Robinson of Ogdensburg, and five grandchildren Rebekah Robinson, Anna Robinson, Ethan Robinson, Skyler Grant and Karlee Grant.
A sister Janet Ferguson predeceased him in 2006.
Bud was born on January 12, 1931 in Potsdam NY, a son of the late Nelson & Muriel (Gauthier) Grant. He graduated from Potsdam High School in 1949 and later married Betty L. Levac on July 17, 1965 in Massena.
During his career he worked at Alcoa as a timekeeper and mail clerk from 1955 to 1959. He then began his longtime employment with Kinney Drugs in Ogdensburg where he worked as a clerk in the photo department from 1959 until his retire in 2006.
Bud was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, Kiwanis and Rotary for many years. He enjoyed gardening, mowing his lawn, playing cards, photography at weddings, spending time with grandchildren, watching high school sports, going to auctions and was elected into the Lisbon Hall of Fame.
