Eleanor L. Drummond

Funeral services for Eleanor L. Drummond, age 91 of Surprise, AZ and formerly of Morristown, NY, will be held on Monday at 3:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. David Piatt officiating. Burial will be in the spring at Greenwood Cemetery in Morristown.

Calling hours will be held also on Monday from 12:00 to 3:00pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Drummond passed away at her home on Wednesday (February 11, 2015) in Surprise, AZ.

Surviving are her three daughters Patricia (William) Bartlett of Ogdensburg, Virginia (Ronald) Tulley of Brier Hill and Kristine (Chester) Barton of Surprise AZ; sister-in-laws, Muriel Raven of Ogdensburg and Barbara (Robert) Tayler of Morristown; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews & cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband Hollis; a brother Charles Thomas & his wife Marguerite and a great-grandson Jameson Gilmour.

Eleanor was born on October 6, 1923 in Morristown, the daughter of Harold & Clara (Elethorp) Thomas. She graduated from Brier Hill High School in 1942, and later married Hollis Drummond on April 27, 1942 at the Methodist Parsonage in Gouverneur. She was a loving and devoted foster parent for 35+ years, caring for over 41 children.

She was an active member of the Morristown United Methodist Church, Morristown Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, a Charter Member of the Hammond and Morristown VFW Auxiliary and she was an elections Inspector for the Town of Morristown in 1982. Eleanor was also very active in the Neurology Grand Chapter OES and the Valley of Thousand Isles OES # 382 for many years.
