

Funeral services for Elizabeth “Liz” A. Duprey, age 85 of Ogdensburg will be held on Tuesday (Sept 15, 2015) at 10:00am at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Rev. F. James Shurtleff and Rev. Joseph Morgan co-officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Monday (Sept 14, 2015) from 2-4pm & 6-8pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mrs. Duprey passed away on Friday (Sept 11, 2015) at the Riverledge Healthcare Facility.
Surviving are three sons Frederick (Christine) Duprey of Maumee OH, Joseph (Pam) Duprey of Kirkville NY and Michael (JoAnne) Duprey of Ogdensburg; a daughter Mary Nugent of Perrysburg OH; two brothers Richard (Beverly) Sherry of Morristown and Thomas (Barb) Sherry of Waddington; three sisters Catherine Sherry of Ogdensburg, Patricia (Gary) Mandigo of Ogdensburg and Linda (Tomas) Wherle of Apollo PA; nine grandchildren Margaret, Amber, Sandy, Zachary, Ian, Katrina, Ethan, Chelsey and Donald; four great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews & cousins.
Her husband Donald H. Duprey; two brothers James Sherry & Donald Sherry and a sister Kathleen Ankenbrandt predeceased her.
Liz was born on March 3, 1930 in Ogdensburg NY, a daughter of the late Bennett & Helen (Burke) Sherry. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy and continued her education at Syracuse School of Nursing.
She worked at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center as a nurse for a period, and later married Donald H. Duprey at St. Mary’s Cathedral. She remained at home to raise her family after her marriage but later returned to work following the loss of her husband Donald at a young age. She then became employed at United Helpers Nursing Home for 10 years, and again returned to the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center where she worked until her retirement in 1992.
Liz was very involved with St. Mary’s Cathedral participating with the choir, bereavement committee, Eucharistic ministry, Sunday school teacher and grey nun assistant. She enjoyed her church activities, spending time on the river, swimming and spending time with her family.
