

Betty is survived by her children, Diane Harper (Kandi Parton) of Aubrey, TX; Mary Kay (Don) Barrett, of Ormond Beach, FL; her sister, Ruth Jaworski of The Villages, FL. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Katie ( Buck) Barton of Lubbock, TX; Jeff ( Stacey) Brian of Suwannee, GA; Dawn (Mike) Mahoney of Apopka, FL; Derrick (Alice) Brian of Cumming, GA; great grandchildren Jackson Barton, Presley Brian, Chloe Brian; and great great grandchild Hunter Brian. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins; all of whom will fondly remember Betty’s kindness, gentle spirit, and decency.
Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ralph P. Harper; her son, James A. Harper; her daughter, Barbara J. Brian; her brother, Daniel DeVito; sister Rose Krupas; and sister Mary Manno.
Betty was born on November 8, 1928; in Auburn, NY; the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Delmonte) DeVito. She graduated from Attic High School, in Attic, NY; and was united in marriage to Ralph on November 24, 1949; in Kenmore, NY; beginning a devoted partnership that spanned 47 years.
Betty loved her family and friends with all her heart, and spread her warmth and joy throughout her life—when Betty created a friendship it was for life. Betty was a natural professional social worker, working at Buffalo State Hospital for 8 years, and 16 years at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center in Ogdensburg. Her compassion and dedication to service positively impacted the lives she touched.
Betty was involved in her community and devoted to her faith. She was a lifelong member of The First Presbyterian Church of Ogdensburg, a Girl Scout leader, a school homeroom mother, PTA member, and lifelong member of The American Legion Auxiliary, where she served a term as President. Betty lived a life of service, generosity, and devotion to family, church, and community.
