

Funeral services for Elizabeth “Betty” E. Lytle, age 86 of Rensselaer Falls will be held on Monday (September 15, 2014) at 10:00am at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Heuvelton with Rev. Kevin O’Brien & Rev. Jay Seymour officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ogdensburg.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2:00-5:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mrs. Lytle passed away Thursday (September 11, 2014) at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Surviving are her children; Paul Lytle & his wife Carol of Rensselaer Falls, Anne Niles & her husband Glenn and Susan Proulx & her husband Thomas both of Canton; a brother Donald Woodcock & his wife Sandra of Kendrew; five grandchildren Jennifer Brown & her husband Rob, Brian Lytle, Elizabeth White & her husband Mike, Matthew Proulx, Melissa Proulx & her husband Matthew; six great-grandchildren Madilyn Proulx, Camille Brown, Oliver White, Berkley Brown, Noah White, Lucas White and many nieces, nephews & cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband Clarence in 1958; her brother James Chase in 1996 and a great-grandson Turner Robert Brown in 2005.
Betty was born on August 9, 1928 in Canton NY, a daughter of the late Leander & Elizabeth (Moutz) Chase. She graduated from Heuvelton High School and continued her education at the A. Barton Hepburn School of Nursing where she earned her registered nursing degree. She then married Clarence D. Lytle on May 6, 1950 in Heuvelton. During her career she was employed in various nursing positions as well as at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center where she worked as a registered nurse until her retirement in 1991.
She was a member of the St. Raphael’s Altar Rosary Society, Hepburn Alumni, Rensselaer Falls Library & Historical Associations, Colton, Seaway, & Lisbon Senior Citizens Clubs, Jolly Eight Bridge Club, Kendrew Ladies Aid and former volunteer for the American Cancer Society. Betty was an avid NY Yankee and Syracuse basketball fan, and enjoyed bowling, playing cards, reading, making Sunday dinners for her family and attending local sporting events of family and friends.
