 I'm sorry to read about your mother's passing. I enjoyed visiting her at your home.She was a joy to talk to.

Remember Ellen and Sam both from Morley Church and Canton apartments. Sam would help guide material for Ellen to sew when she was losing her sight. Always had their door open for visitors. Then to United Helpers in a joint room. Sweet couple. One of Ellen's last quilts was a wedding gift for Roderick and me. It was a blessing to meet family members yesterday. May God bless as you all remember good times with sweet Ellen.

Dear Rena and Kerry and all of Sam's and Ellen's Families,  Please accept my condolences and prayers in the loss of your mom, grandmother, aunt and patriarch  of her family.  She was a very special lady.  I first met Sam and Ellen at the Canton Housing Authority where I had taken the job as the Resident Service Coordinator in May 1998.  She had a great zest for life and the people around her and Sam.  She would assist other's who lived in the building.   Rena was a special lady who enjoyed showing others how to do things. She was the reason I was able to get a position at United Helper's.   There are many more examples of how this little woman would help others.  God Bless Ellen on her journey to Heaven where she will be reunited with Sam and her Savior.
  

Ellen was one of the Patriots of the church, I always admired her! She had a way of keeping her 8 children quiet and well behaved with just a “look” or “”gentle touch”!  She was a gentle, soft spoken, lady of wise words! I am blessed to have had her as an example!  
And her husband’s laugh will make me smile in my memory bank!! So unique!

The value of learning a skill that can help you recreate your world and become an enjoyable/ relaxing hobby -- reusing every piece of fabric to create a new piece to be treasured and enjoyed - never wasting a thing:
* Patchwork Quilts - baby blankets to wedding blankets
* Big, comfy oversized warm winter sweaters
* Child Life-Sized Dancing dolls - with elastic to attach to our wrists and ankles to have a dancing partner


The Value of Food:
The value of appreciation for the food you are given and the willingness and effort to be healthy and well - eating on schedule, no sugar diet, growing a garden, and preserving food for later.
* gratitude for the food you're given 
* eating on time
* lemonade without sugar
* pickled this/ that
* growing it yourself

And so many more values and memories...

Much love for you, Grandma Simmons! Thank you for the wisdom and values that you lived and shared with us. Your gifts live on through your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Your legacy. Enjoy heaven! We'll reunite there.

Dear Rena and all family members, please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of your great mother.  I remember her well, especially at Lisbon Camp Meeting times.  She was a lovely lady.  God bless your family at this time of grief.  She is now rejoicing with her Saviour.

🎶Precious mem'-ries, how they linger... Aunt Ellen and Uncle Sam were a big part of my childhood years, because I saw them both  at church and also had many fun days playing with my cousins at their house. Church sledding parties , church & Sunday school activities,  just being together were all special times. 
I appreciated the beauty of  her quiet  ways. God used Aunt Ellen to bless us with a special "T" quilt and a newly reupholstered sofa and chair when Ken and I were married. Through out her life she taught me  the blessings of family , of frugality, of gratitude for what we have, and most of all  the joy of serving our Lord wherever God placed us in life. Even when I moved my Mom from Heuvelton to Mooers Forks, she managed to get over to see us ,thanks to Rena and Kerry's bringing her.
May these few memories flood and bless your soul as they do mine.
