Interment to occur at a later date at St. Mark’s Cemetery. Bobbe passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Brockville General Hospital, Garden Street site, at the age 90 years.

Bobbe was born on July 19, 1930 in Cardinal, Ontario. Predeceased by beloved husband Charles “Chick” Kirkby, whom she married on July 22, 1950. Daughter of the late Oscar and Dora “Mildred” (Robertson) Poaps of Cardinal. Cherished Mother of Mark (Laurie) and Dean (friend Pam), all of Prescott. Predeceased by 3 angels who died at birth, Bonnie, Kelly and Joel. Treasured Grandmother (Nannie) of Ryan (Melanie), Justin (Sandy Graham Kirkby) and Josh (Lesley Hubbard), Nicole Layng (Dereck) and Jennifer (Chris Willis). Much adored Great- Grandmother of Tyson, Kennedy, Owen, Mallory, Ethan, Lucas, Camden, Braedyn and Devin Kirkby; Cyara Layng, Spencer & Abbigail Kirkby and many nieces and nephews. Survived by brother-in-law Leo Boivin (friend Susan), Brother-in-law Hall Kirkby (Nora). Predeceased by sister Lorraine Armstrong (Donald), Ogdensburg, NY, brothers-in-law Lorne (Bev), and Ken (Jean), of Syracuse, NY, Arthur (Patricia), Donald, Bernard (Nancy), Carl (Madge) and sisters-in-laws Jean Stethem (John), Marg (Jim) Perry, and Patsy Boivin, all of Prescott.

Bobbe’s passion was her love for family and friends. She treasured her precious bond and being best friend with daughter-in-law Laurie. Her many great grandchildren especially gave her much happiness. She enjoyed playing cards, darts, bingo and being part of “The Mystics” with their many performances at The Legion. Bobbe loved her home in New Wexford, overlooking the St. Lawrence River, especially seeing the first boat in the spring. She loved to laugh, to be the life of the party, lived life on her own terms and remained fiercely independent throughout life. She was a lifetime member of St. Mark’s Church, 60 year member Catholic Women’s League, long time member of The Royal Canadian Legion and Ladies Auxilliary.

The family extends special thanks to those services and people who made it possible for Bobbe to remain in her own home. She celebrated her 90th birthday with a “drive-by” event at her residence; COVID 19 restrictions made this necessary, where family and friends were able to show their great love and admiration for her.

We send our support, prayers and love to you.
Aunt Bobbe loved and cherished her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and spoke so fondly of you all when we visited.
She certainly embraced life to the fullest. I have so many wonderful memories of Aunt Bobbe and her loving, feisty personality.
Our hearts ache that we cannot be there with you for Aunt Bobbe, but we will get together as soon as we can.
