Funeral services for Eva I. Marsaw, age 91 of Hammond will be held Saturday (April 6, 2013) at 11:00am at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Pastor David Sheppard officiating. Burial will follow the service at Ingham Cemetery in Brier Hill.
Calling hours will be held also on Saturday from 10:00am until the time of the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Marsaw passed away Wednesday (Apr 3, 2013) at the Riverledge Healthcare Facility where she had been a resident since 2008.
Surviving is her son David Marsaw and his wife Barbara of Hammond; a daughter Priscella McMann of Rochester; three sisters Iona Watson of Canton, Elizabeth “Buzzy” Stevenson of Pulaski & Dorothy McLear & her husband Marvin of Hammond; grandchildren Terri & Corey Tanner, Lisa & Guy Rosenbarker, and Shayne Marsaw & his companion Ila Concepcion of Hammond, Richard McMann, Lori & Joseph Gillett of Rochester; great-grandchildren Leeann Gillett & Joey Gillette of Rochester , Alexander Schwartz & Brenden Schwartz of Rochester; Hannah Tanner, Sydney Tanner, Terin Rosenbarker, Shae Rosenbarker & Riley Marsaw all of Hammond; and many nieces nephews & cousins. Her husband Lawrence; a son Richard; an infant daughter Prudence; and three brothers Franklin, Malcolm & Robert Barney predeceased her.
Eva was born on April 24, 1921 in Hammond, NY a daughter of the late Augustus & Alma (Felt) Barney. She attended Hammond School for her education, and married Lawrence E. Marsaw on October 2, 1938 in Hammond with Rev. Shoemaker officiating the couple’s marriage. She began working at J.J. Wilde Grocery Store and then at Icicle & Home Restaurant until 1959 when she and Larry formed Marsaw & Marsaw, Inc., a gas station, garage and general store business. The couple continued the operations until 1972 when the antique and E & L Hearing Aid businesses began.
She was a member and past secretary of the Hammond Presbyterian Church, enjoyed her grandchildren & great-grandchildren and crocheting and sewing. Eva was an avid Syracuse & Duke Basketball fan and NY Yankee Baseball fan.
