

Funeral services for G. Louise “Wheezie” LaFave, age 77 of the Five Mile Line Road in Lisbon will be held on Tuesday (Jan 25, 2011) at 7:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home in Ogdensburg with Rev. Melissa Mishoe officiating. Interment will follow the service at Foxwood Memorial Park.
Calling hours will also be held on Tuesday from 4:00pm until the time of the service at the funeral home. Mrs. LaFave died unexpectedly Saturday (Jan 22, 2011) at her home.
Surviving are three daughters Karen LaFave, Kathi Richards & her husband Donald and Lisa Fortin & her husband David all of Ogdensburg; two granddaughters Katheryn L. LaFave-Lincoln & Sarah E. Richards both of Ogdensburg; four sisters Bethany Wyatt of Depeyster, Jean Skidds of Ogdensburg, Eunice Curry of Ogdensburg, Beverly Gladle of Lisbon; five brothers Donald Smithers & his wife Brenda of Ogdensburg, Delmar Smithers of Ogdensburg, Wendelle Harper & his wife Isabelle of Chesterville, Ontario, George Smithers & his wife Lorraine of Ogdensburg, Quinton Smithers & his companion Rosemarie of Ogdensburg; a special friend Anne Loinaz; her pet cat Tippy and grand-animals Gabbie, Moose, Simba, & Peanut along with many nieces, nephews & cousins.
Her husband Theodore M. LaFave, grandson Andrew J. Osgood, siblings David Smithers, Arlene Adams, June Hazelton, Guy Harper, Ellis Smithers, Betty Simpson, and Vernon Smithers predeceased her.
Louise was born on March 7, 1933 in the Town of Oswegatchie, a daughter of the late Enos & Thelma (Middlemiss) Smithers. She graduated from local schools, and married Theodore Mitchel LaFave in Malone, NY. She worked at W.T Grants and J.J. Newberry’s prior to becoming a long standing babysitter for area families. She enjoyed refinishing furniture, garage sales, playing bingo, quilting, sewing, spending time with her family and caring for children. She was also an avid NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan.
Memorial contributions have been requested to the local SPCA.
