Gary L. Wright

Gary is survived by his longtime companion and best friend, Glenda Blake of Ogdensburg, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness and friendship.

He was predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Ruth (Hazelton) Wright; his brother, Donald Wright; and his sister, Norma Gilmer, and her husband, Wayne.

Born and raised in Ogdensburg, Gary graduated from Morristown High School in 1960. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966, spending his military service stationed in Korea. His dedication and sense of duty remained qualities that defined him throughout his life.

Before entering the Army, Gary worked in the produce department at the P&C Food Store. Following his honorable discharge, he discovered the work that truly reflected his gifts and passion—carpentry. A talented craftsman with an eye for detail and a strong work ethic, Gary spent many winters in St. Augustine, Florida, where his skill as a carpenter earned the respect of those who knew his work. For many years, he divided his time between Florida and New York's North Country, leaving behind beautifully crafted projects and lasting friendships wherever he worked. He believed that anything worth building was worth building well, and his handiwork remains a lasting tribute to his talent.

Gary found his greatest happiness in life's simple pleasures. He cherished the time spent at his beloved camp along the St. Lawrence River, where peaceful days and beautiful sunsets brought him joy. He and Glenda shared many happy adventures camping together, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Gary also loved tending his gardens, browsing garage sales in search of hidden treasures, reading a good book, and caring for the animals on his hobby farm. He had a gentle heart, an easy smile, and a willingness to lend a helping hand whenever someone needed it.

Those who knew Gary will remember him as a quiet, dependable man whose life was built on hard work, humility, and love for the people and places that meant the most to him. Whether through the homes he helped build, the friendships he nurtured, or the memories he created with family and friends, Gary leaves behind a legacy that will endure for years to come.
