As per Gene’s request, there will be no public services. He will be laid to rest at Flackville Cemetery with his parents.
Gene is survived by his two children, Stephen and Stephanie Simzer; two sisters, Betty (Tony) Mehalick of Saranac Lake and Judy Smith of Mesa, AZ; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his two brothers, Larry and Curt Simzer, and his sister, Karen Simzer.
Gene was born in Ogdensburg, the son of the late Henry and Alice (Smithers) Simzer. He graduated from Lisbon High School and continued his education, earning his pilot’s license.
During his career, Gene owned and operated a charter plane service, working out of both the Ogdensburg and Watertown airports. He enjoyed playing pool, hot rod cars, and, most of all, socializing with friends.
