Funeral services for George B. LaBrake Jr, age 76 of the Tuck Road will be held on Friday (Feb 1, 2013) at 11:00am at St. Philip & James Catholic Church in Lisbon with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. His place of rest will be Foxwood Memorial Park

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mr. LaBrake died Wednesday (Jan 30, 2013) at his home under the care of his family and Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.

Surviving is his wife Mary ‘Jackie” LaBrake, a son Gregory LaBrake & his wife Laura of Waddington; a daughter Carol Baxter & her husband Fred of Lisbon; four brothers & their wives Neil & Jeanne LaBrake of Ogdensburg, William & Christine LaBrake of Lowville, Carl & Suzanne LaBrake of Colton and Harold & Sigried LaBrake of Rochester; eight sisters & their husbands Agnes & Charles Opdyke of Albuquerque, NM, Sister Mary Theresa LaBrake GNSH of Ogdensburg, Ella & Vernon Dawley of Lisbon, Jane & Eugene Bieniecki of N. Cape May, NJ, Sharon & Arthur Yaddow of Lyndonville, NY, Margaret & Ronald Bisnett of Ogdensburg, Patricia & Gerald Soulia of Rooseveltown, NY and Kathleen & John Ames of Potsdam; Three grandchildren Melanie Baxter & Brittiany & Scott Gage and Michael Burnett along with several nieces, nephews & cousins.

A brother Donald LaBrake predeceased him.

George was born on February 28, 1936 in Potsdam, NY a son of the late George & Hilda (Crump) LaBrake. He attended Lisbon School for his education, and married Mary Jacqueline “Jackie” Harper on October 4, 1958 in Lisbon with Rev. Dewey celebrating. He then enlisted in the US Army from 1959-1961. George was employed as a foreman at the Heuvelton Whey Plant for 47 years and retired in 2002.

He was a member of the St. Philip & James parish, St. Lawrence Borderline Dancers and enjoyed gardening, reading, Ruby’s, and the Donut King where he socialized with many friends.
