Gus A. Becker Jr.

Ogdensburg- Gus A. Becker Jr., who passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening October 21st, 2025, at the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center under the care of hospice. He was 93 years old and resided in Ogdensburg, NY, formerly of Laredo, Texas. Gus was surrounded by his devoted wife, Beverly, and his loving extended family. He will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, educator, and a proud veteran of the United States Air Force.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 7th, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Fox & Murray Funeral Home located at 528 Franklin Street, Ogdensburg, NY 13669. A Funeral Service will follow at 4:00 PM, with Father, Joseph A. Morgan, officiating. Gus will receive Military honors and will be laid to rest in the City Cemetery in Laredo, Texas.

Gus was born on August 5, 1932, in Laredo, Texas; to the late Gus Alder Becker Sr. & Mildred (Leyendecker). He led a remarkable life dedicated to service, education, and his family. He graduated from Texas A&M as a member of the Corps of Cadets before joining the AirForce as Captain, served in Vietnam in 1969 attached to 82nd airborne flying C-130s, serving with honor and distinction for 17 years as a Command Pilot. He married Virginia Louise Reed in 1955 and was stationed in various AirForce bases as they raised their 5 children together. After leaving the AirForce in 1970, Gus embarked on a second career in education, he attended USC, and received his CPA license before becoming a school teacher in Laredo Texas.

After the passing of his wife, Jean, in 1996, Gus found love again with Beverly, a widow, in 2001. They were married on June 29, 2003, in a lovely ceremony in the Garden at Gran View in Ogdensburg, NY.

Their marriage united two wonderful families, and they enjoyed traveling seasonally between Ogdensburg and the beautiful Gulf Coast for the weather. Gus was deeply loved by his extended family in New York, as well as by his children, grandchildren, sister, nieces, nephews, and cousins located in various places. He also greatly enjoyed connecting with his fellow U.S. military veterans.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Becker, and Mr. Becker’s children, Vanean (Dunny) Green, Allen (Susie) Becker, Leesa Heckman, Rick Becker, and Amy Becker, grandchildren, Leia (Kevin) Taylor, Austin (Sandra) Becker, Joseph ( Melissa) Becker, Laura (Matthew) Vaughan, Gina (Matt) Stebly, Katelyn (Justin Permijo) along with his 18 great grandchildren and 1 great- great grandchild.

A sister Patsy (Hollis) Kincaid, nephew David (Cory) Kincaid, and their children, niece Holly (Kirt) Yamamoto and their children as well as his step-children, daughters; Shelley (William) Breen, Mary Ellen Dishaw, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gus was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets Association.

As a father and husband, Gus was a guiding light, offering unwavering support and unconditional love to his children. He cherished spending time with them and watching them in their various activities. His family will fondly remember his stories and his ability to turn every moment into a teachable lesson or anecdote. Gus was also known for his love of books, model airplanes. He loved playing bridge, collecting stamps, genealogy research, and baseball…. First the Braves, then added the Yankees.

Gus is predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Virginia, two son-in-law’s Christopher “Chris” Daniel Dishaw, and Mark Heckman: two stepdaughters, Debra “Debbie” Lynn Walker, and Kimberly C. Free along with 2 great-grandchildren, Torrie & Jason Free.

The loss of Gus A. Becker leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his memory will live on through the stories he shared. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love of those who held him dear.
