

DePeyster, NY - Funeral services for Howard E. Bice, 80, of Depeyster will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home, Ogdensburg with Lay Pastor Judy Sibley, Spragueville Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Foxwood Memorial Park, Ogdensburg.
Friends may call at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home on Saturday from Noon until the time of the service at 2:00 pm. Mr. Bice died at his home on Sunday evening, November 13, 2011 surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Surviving are: his wife of 60 years, Helen; 1 son, Frank Bice (Kimberly) of DePeyster; 2 daughters, Mrs. Clark (Rosemary) Wainwright of DePeyster, Mrs. Randy (Judy) Dox of Winthrop; 9 grandchildren, Aaron Bice, Andy Fenton (Amanda), Angela Kelly, Wendy Warren, Michael Wainwright (Heather), Christopher Wainwright (Jan), SFC Thomas Tynon (Un-Zung), Travis Dox (Margaret), Amanda Dox; 12 great-grandchildren. Predeceasing him were; 4 brothers, Everett Bice, Frank Bice, twin brothers, Kermit and Kenneth, both of whom died in early childhood; a half-brother, Harold Charlton; 3 sisters, Lottie Oberg, Clarissa Babcock, and Dorothy Bryan. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
He was born in Heuvelton, NY on Jan. 25, 1931, the son of Clarence & Blanche Bresett Bice. Graduating from Heuvelton High School in 1949, he married Helen E. Poore on Mar. 24, 1951 at St. Raphael’s Rectory, Heuvelton with the late Rev. Ramuel Reiter, officiating. He became employed as a cheese maker at the former Aiello Cheese Company, Heuvelton working there for 28 years, retiring in 1979. He then became a self-employed carpenter and worked with William Knowlton Carpentry for several years. He loved fishing and attending stock car races and antique tractor-pulls. He was also known to frequent the Mohawk casino. Being musically talented, he enjoyed playing his guitar, fiddle, harmonica, and the spoons. Most of all, he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
