Irene D. Armstrong

Funeral services for Irene D. Armstrong, age 97 of Lisbon, will be held at 10:00am on Saturday (Aug 25, 2018) at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Smith and Lay Pastor Larry Smith co-officiating. Entombment will follow at Foxwood Memorial Park.

Calling hours will be held on Friday (Aug 24, 2018) from 4:00-8:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mrs. Armstrong passed away on Wednesday (Aug 22, 2018) at the Riverledge Healthcare Facility surrounded by her loving family.

Surviving are two sons George (Melanie) Armstrong and James (Faith) Armstrong both of Lisbon; a sister Verna Winters of Lisbon; 8 grandchildren; J. Todd (Danielle) Armstrong, Marc Armstrong, Wendy (Michael) Parker, Kari (Craig) Duvall, Raymond (Jeni) Mead III, Clay (Courtney) Armstrong, Ashley (Patrick) Gray, Kelsi (Michael) Flack; 13 great-grandchildren, Kameron Armstrong, Aaron Armstrong, Casey Duvall, Maddison Armstrong, Alaina Armstrong, Rylie Flack, Colin Duvall, James Armstrong, Garrett Flack, Ella Rae Mead, Jase Armstrong, Chloe Gray, Maxwell Mead; along with many nieces, nephews & cousins.

Irene was predeceased by her husband Roger in 1993; two brothers Erwith Dezell and Roger Dezell; and two sisters Margaret Dingee and Elizabeth Prigge.

She was born on August 13, 1921 in Lisbon NY, a daughter of the late George & Harriet (Winslow) Dezell. She graduated from Lisbon High School in 1939 and later married Roger R. Armstrong on May 26, 1940 at the Town Line Manse in Lisbon.

Irene worked at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center as an attendant and later in the laundry department. She retired in 1976 after 25 years of dedicated service. She was a member of the OES # 515 Chapter, Nevin Memorial Church, Lisbon 89ers Senior Citizens, Lisbon TOPS and CSEA. She enjoyed flower gardening, traveling, baking, playing cards, knitting & crocheting and spending time with her family.
