Jim was born on July 5, 1937, in Ogdensburg, a son of the late Harold M. and Gertrude (DeRochie) Boprey. He graduated from Canton Central School and proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1957, receiving an honorable discharge.
On March 14, 1960, Jim married the love of his life, Betty J. Cutway, at the Heuvelton Methodist Church with Rev. Lloyd Tanner officiating. Together they shared many decades of love, devotion, and cherished memories.
During his career, Jim worked for McCarthy Farms, Interstate Engineering, Garns Supply Company, and Dwyers Building Supply, where he served as Sales Manager until retiring in 1995. He was deeply involved in his community, serving as a member of the Heuvelton Lions Club, Director of the Rensselaer Falls Food Pantry, and a member of the Rensselaer Falls Fire Department.
Jim’s greatest joy was time spent with his family. He also enjoyed gardening, woodworking, bowling, traveling with Betty, and sharing laughter while playing games, cards, and washer boards. His kindness, generosity, and steady presence will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; son Timothy Boprey of Canton; daughters Linda (Larry) Friot of Edgewater, FL, and Sheila (Mike) McDonald of Canton; foster daughter Julie (John) Dibari of Providence, RI; 11 grandchildren: Michael, Matthew, Cameron, Trevor, Kristopher, Bradley, Rebecca, Zachary, Evan, Ella, and Gabe; 19 great-grandchildren: Gage, Leah, Grace, Claire, Allyse, Miriam, MJ, Hunter, Parker, Julian, Chloe, Lincoln, Cooper, Brendan, Maddy, Dominic, Emma, Jackson, and Willow; two great-great-grandchildren, Ansley and Charlotte; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
