

Funeral services for James M. Lewis, age 77 of Ogdensburg, will be held at 11:00am on Saturday (March 25, 2017) at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Foxwood Memorial Park.
Calling hours will be held on Friday (March 24th) from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the funeral home. Mr. Lewis passed away on Tuesday (Mar 14th) at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.
Surviving are his children James (Mary) Lewis of Lisbon and Becky (Donald) Legault of Lisbon; two brothers William (Mary) Lewis of Chandelier, AZ and Richard Lewis and his companion Jeanne Skelley of Ogdensburg; a sister Cindy (Wayne) Robinson of Pennsburg, PA; grandchildren Nicholas Lewis, Shawna (Justin) Corey, Jennie Legault, Cheyenne Legault and Caleb Legault; and three great-grandchildren Alexander, Stephen and Ruby.
His wife Wilma predeceased him in 2015.
James was born on April 26, 1939 in Ogdensburg NY, a son of the late Richard & Rena (Miller) Lewis. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1957, and later married Wilma F. Kench on November 11, 1961 at St. Mary’s Cathedral. He was a past member of the Ogdensburg Odd Fellows Club, Past vice Commander of the Ogdensburg Coast Guard Flotilla Aux-1-5, and Past President of the Maple City Prop Busters Model Airplane Club for 25+ years.
During his career he worked at the Ogdensburg International Airport, GLF in Heuvelton and retired as Sgt. for the Potsdam Police Department after 20 years of service. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, model trains and airplanes, boating, camping, going for rides, playing cards, boating on the St. Lawrence River, his pets Smokey Joe and Pretty Girl, teaching boating & hunting safety courses, rides through the Adirondack Mountains, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
