Funeral services for James W. Moore, age 63 of South Lyon, MI and formerly of Heuvelton will be held on Saturday (Dec 8, 2012) at 11:00am at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Jay Seymour officiating. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Cemetery. There will be calling hours from 10:00am until the time of the service on Saturday.
Jim passed away December 1, 2012 in MI. He was born on November 12, 1949 in Watertown, New York, son of Arthur and Jeanne (Keib) Moore. He was married to Carol for over 38 years.
Jim was Vice President of Solutions and Execution Standards for Ryder's Supply Chain Solutions (SCS) business segment. He was responsible for overseeing Ryder's Supply Chain Excellence organization. Jim had more than 45 years of industry experience, including executive positions at the Marshall Moore Group, Accenture, US Freightways and Leaseway transportation. Over his career he traveled extensively in Asia, Europe and North America. Mr. Moore earned his Master of Science degree in Applied Math from the University of Akron, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Syracuse University. He holds a U.S. patent for trailer design and was co-inventor of Ryder's Logistics Release process and technology. He was a frequent speaker on supply chain and was a member of CLM and CSCMP since 1985. He wrote "The Internet Weather", published by John Wiley, 2002.
Jim had encyclopedic knowledge; he was his sons Google before Google was invented. He was a classical pianist and an avid reader; and also enjoyed playing bridge. He was a loving, devoted, considerate, and generous husband and father.
He is survived by his wife Carol; his sons, Gregory Moore of Farmington, Matthew (fiancé Clare O’Conner) Moore of Wisconsin, and Sean (Amalia) Moore of Wisconsin; and his siblings, Lloyd (Jane) Liscum of New York, Dr. Michele (Marcus Christian) Hansen of New Hampshire, Arthur (Sue) Moore of Florida, and Marilyn (Steven Bayne) Moore of New York. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Maureen Downing.
Services will also be held at the Casterline Funeral Home 59255 Ten Mile Road, South Lyon, MI on Wednesday, December 5th from 3-6pm with a funeral service beginning at 6pm.
