Funeral services for Janet D. Palmer, age 86 of Rensselaer Falls will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday (June 15, 2024) at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Burial will follow services at the Rensselaer Falls Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held also on Saturday from 11:00am until the time of the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Palmer passed away on Monday (June 10, 2024) at the Canton Potsdam Hospital surrounded by her family.
Surviving is her husband Claude; grandchildren Melissa (Caleb) VanBrunt, Robert (Paige) Galpin and Alisa (Johnathan) Stone; great-grandchildren Cayden VanBrunt, Grayson VanBrunt and Preston Galpin and Anna Galpin; along with several nieces, nephews & cousins.
She was predeceased by three children Michael, Marc & Kimberly Galpin, and a grandson Tyler Galpin.
Janet was born on November 22, 1937 in Ogdensburg, a daughter of the late Joseph & Doris (Hilborn) Richer. She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and was later married to Claude Palmer on August 14, 1976.
During her career she worked for Acme Grocery, P & C Foods, Eddy’s Market, Chicago Markets as a meat packer and later went to work at ComPAS as a laborer until she retired in 1997. She enjoyed traveling, attending local fairs, collecting treasures, going to garage sales, collecting antiques and spending time with family.
