She was born on March 18, 1950 in Ogdensburg, a daughter of the late Jack and Betty (Shaw) Fisher. Jan graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and continued her education at Canton ATC. She later married Ronald Mills on April 27, 1985. Ronald predeceased her.
Jan worked for many years in the Dietary Department at A. Barton Hepburn Hospital until she was married. She took great pride in her work and was known for her warm smile and caring nature.
A talented baker, Jan became famous among family and friends for her delicious sugar cookies and homemade donuts, treats that were eagerly anticipated at gatherings and holidays. She was also an exceptionally gifted seamstress whose remarkable skills allowed her to mend, alter, and create almost anything placed before her. Whether with a needle and thread or in the kitchen, Jan expressed her love through the care and attention she put into everything she made.
Jan enjoyed sewing, baking, reading, and crafting, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her nephews and their families. She treasured family gatherings, especially during the holidays, creating memories that will be lovingly remembered for years to come. She also shared a special bond with her beloved dog, Maggie, who brought her much companionship and happiness.
Jan will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, generosity, and the love she poured into her family. Her sweet treats, handmade creations, and warm presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
